Timing

When is the Best Time to Convert my File?

The ideal time to convert your file will depend on your unique business needs. Since changing accounting software is a significant step, it’s important to give yourself space to ask questions and feel comfortable with the process.

We recommend scheduling your conversion during quieter business periods, such as:

  • After completing invoicing or a payroll cycle

  • During a planned shutdown or maintenance window

  • When your sales activity is seasonally lower

Try to avoid busy times, especially during BAS preparation, End-of-Month preparation or other peak reporting periods.

How Long Does it Take to Convert a File to Xero?

Once your file is uploaded, you’ll be directed to your status page to select your conversion package.

  • If you choose the Accelerate package, your file receives priority processing, moving to the front of the queue at each stage.

  • For Insight and Accelerate packages, you’ll also need to complete bank account mapping before the conversion begin

Once all steps are complete, the conversion process begins. We aim to deliver your new Xero subscription with your data within:

  • Up to 3 business days for MYOB Desktop files

  • Up to 5 business days for all other files

You can track progress at any time using the link to your conversion status page, provided after upload.
AlertNote: For online conversions, we cannot commence until we’ve received the necessary access.

Why Does Delivery Time Vary?

Not all conversions require the same time or resources. While some may be completed within a few hours, others may take the full estimated timeframe. Variations in timing are often due to complexities in the data — such as file errors, extraction or transformation issues, large file sizes, or the use of non-standard accounting practices.

If we anticipate a delay, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to explain the reason and keep you informed of the revised timeline.
